Global Crisis. The Responsibility | International Online Forum. December 2, 2023

Today, very serious changes are taking place with the climate, and we are not ready for that. We are not ready to admit as parents that our child has no future. We can influence simple things: a child's education, how he is dressed, what he eats, and we do this. However, at least so far, we can also influence whether he will have a future or not. And that's when all our responsibility as parents disappears. We cease to be fathers and mothers, and we become just indifferent people because we reject and do not want to admit that climatic changes already pose a real threat.

A good parent is the one who really cares about the future of their child. Not in the sense of who the child will grow up to be, but in the sense that he will have such an opportunity. If we were truly caring parents, we would not be afraid and would take on this responsibility. And we would do everything to save the life of our child.

How could it happen that we, society as a whole, have come to the point when every person individually seems to be very caring, good and positive, while in general, as a society, we are indifferent to others and turn away from this reality?

The Chance on the Verge

Within the framework of the project "NO TO VIOLENCE IN THE FAMILY AND SOCIETY" Olga Andreeva, a member of ALLATRA International Public Movement from Kaliningrad (Russia), shares her experience and a deeper understanding which came to her after watching the film "THE STORY OF MY SLAVERY" with Liza Shilkova.

Olga talks about how tyranny experienced by a person from others can turn the person into a tyrant oppressing others. About the importance for adults to pay attention to relationships among children without shifting the responsibility onto children themselves. Because if from childhood a person finds himself in a situation of an outcast and gets used to it, then, as he grows up, he will look for any opportunity to hold onto the slightest power, which will lead to the inability to see the inner beauty of another person, but will teach him to see the weaknesses and shortcomings in other people.

If adults do not keep silent, help children solve problems in their relationships, set a positive personal example, and do not turn a blind eye to such important things, children will grow up to become adults worthy of the title of a Human. And in such a society there will be no place for violence.
