One by one volcano is waking up on the planet. On November 19, 2021, in Italy, a state of emergency was declared in the region of the island of Vulcano, where the volcano of the same name woke up. The last time it was active 130 years ago. The island recorded an increase in temperature, seismic activity, an increase in heavy gases containing carbon dioxide and sulfur, reducing the level of oxygen in the air. Local residents were forced to leave their homes. Entry for tourists was forbidden. An orange danger level has been declared.

Eyewitnesses to the disasters say they had only seconds to save their lives.

In this issue, an eyewitness from the island of La Palma, Spain, will talk about what people had to endure whose lives were changed forever by the Cumbre Vieja volcano, which has been erupting for more than two months in the Canary Islands.

On November 16, 2021, heavy downpours in the southwest of India caused large-scale floods and triggered landslides. The most affected states were Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. Sadly, dozens of people were killed and many are considered missing.

On November 17, a tornado struck the island of Sicily, affecting southeastern areas. Casualties and injured people have been reported. A total of 12 tornadoes were recorded over 2 days on the island, according to media reports.

On November 21, a storm with thunderstorms, heavy rain, and hail poured over the northern part of Saudi Arabia. At the same time, the temperature dropped to +7 degrees Celsius. Video of eyewitnesses showed the desert covered with a layer of ice and snow.

On the night of November 22, 2021, a powerful downpour hit the city of George, South Africa. The heavy rain caused unexpected flooding in the streets, flooding buildings and businesses. Rescue workers had to use boats to evacuate people from flooded homes and cars.

On 22-23 November, the city of Birobidzhan, the Russian Federation, experienced heavy snowfall. Schools were closed. Public transportation was canceled. The mayor of the city said that this was the first time in his memory in Birobidzhan.

On November 23 in Spain, the province of Alicante was hit by a powerful storm with hail.
Streets and even entire neighborhoods were flooded. Rains were accompanied by large hail, and there were large ice drifts on roads.

During the second half of November, more than 25,000 people on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java were affected by floods and landslides. Unfortunately, casualties and missing people have been reported.

At the same time, heavy rains in Colombia caused floods and landslides. Sadly, several people lost their lives. In all, more than 3,500 families were affected.
Many people were cut off from the outside world and had to climb high ground to escape.

In November 2021, a large part of Asia (Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China) was covered by severe Arctic cold - temperature deviations below the seasonal average were observed up to -22℃.

At the same time, many countries in Europe were covered by a powerful Arctic front.
In the southwest of Great Britain, the temperature dropped to nearly -1.5℃.
On November 23 in Finland and Scandinavia, the lowest temperatures of the season in mainland Europe were recorded -29℃.

Between April and September 2021, the average temperature at the South Pole reached -61.1℃. It was the coldest six months in the history of mankind. The previous record was recorded 45 years ago.
