Climate is changing and it’s our nowadays reality. We experience more temperature anomalies and last year was the hottest in 125,000 years. 2024 breaks the records of the previous year. The ocean is warming at an enormous speed. Climate disasters have increased all over the world.

What can each person do to improve the situation? I already paid my carbon emissions taxes but what else can I do to help other people and contribute to saving lives?

Ways to Resolve Climate Crisis. Presentation of Creative Society Organized With IAYSP Austria

The past week has shown how serious the problem of heavy rainfalls has become. Countries on different continents simultaneously suffered from abnormal floods.

➡️ Strong Storms in Europe
On May 2, several countries in Europe were hit by storms with thunderstorms and heavy rains.
In Germany, storms caused significant damage to some parts of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. After a strong thunderstorm, the Klingbach River overflowed, flooding several settlements.
The Netherlands also suffered from the storms that day. Strong thunderstorms with downpours passed over the province of Limburg. The cities of Venlo and Heerlen were particularly affected. 

➡️ Record Flooding in China
On May 4, heavy rains poured down on several cities in Guangdong province in southern China, including Zhongshan and Zhuhai. The province issued 58 flood warnings, five of which were red, indicating the most serious level of warning.

➡️ Catastrophic Floods in Kenya
Since March, rains have not stopped in Kenya, causing massive floods and landslides. Floods and landslides have claimed 228 lives, with 164 people missing. Unfortunately, there are no signs of the crisis easing, as meteorologists predict such weather will continue into May. 

➡️ Destructive Tornado in the USA
On the evening of May 6, another round of deadly severe weather hit the central part of the USA. The NWS issued over 300 life-threatening weather warnings: lightning, severe hail, and destructive wind gusts. Over 60 tornado warnings were also issued. One of them, the Tornado Emergency Alert, the most severe of all warnings, was issued for Osage County, Oklahoma.

➡️ Unprecedented Flooding in Brazil
The southernmost state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, is experiencing a natural disaster. Anomalous rains and severe floods have already affected 401 out of 497 municipalities. The state government has declared a state of emergency. At least 95 people have fallen victim to the climate tragedy, and over 130 are still missing. The number of flood victims is approaching 1.5 million people, with more than 200,000 left homeless. 

❗ The extreme rise in temperatures and the evaporation of huge volumes of water lead to increased storm activity. As a result, there is an increase in the number of thunderstorms, precipitation, and strong winds. This poses a serious danger and leads to even greater destruction, losses, and loss of human lives.

The Best New-Year’s Gift. Psychology. Discovering the Truth

BANGLADESH, mid-May.
The incessant rains caused the rivers in the northeast of the country to rise sharply. Large-scale floods inundated dozens of localities. Unfortunately, dozens of people died, and about 150,000 families were left without electricity and access to drinking water. Many residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were destroyed. Hundreds of roads fell into disrepair. Farmlands were damaged.

May 19, 2022. 
HONDURAS. Heavy rains flooded some departments. The nation's capital was hit the hardest.

TEGUCIGALPA. About 600 people were affected. Over a hundred homes were damaged. Landslides and road collapses were recorded. 

May 20, 2022. 
GERMANY. Storm Cyclone Emmelinda came to the country. Heavy rain, hail, and gale-force winds caused multiple devastations. 
Tornadoes swept through the cities of Paderborn, Lippstadt and Lütmarsen. Unfortunately, there were casualties and injuries. 
BELGIUM AND THE NETHERLANDS were also affected by the storm.

The USA. GAYLORD, MICHIGAN. A category 3 tornado struck the city. 
The maximum wind strength was over 240 km/h. Unfortunately, there was a casualty and dozens of injuries. Buildings were partially or completely destroyed.

May 21, 2022
ONTARIO AND QUEBEC, CANADA. 
A major hurricane with thunderstorms and hail swept through the provinces. Unfortunately, there were casualties and injured. Wind gusts in some places reached 120 km/h. 
The storm destroyed homes, overturned cars, fell  down trees and electric poles
 More than 500 000 houses were left without electricity. A state of emergency was declared. 

WEST JAVA, INDONESIA. A landslide caused by torrential rain destroyed houses in the village of Cipelang. Unfortunately, there were casualties. Floods inundated and destroyed homes in many provinces of the country. More than 50,000 people were affected.

May 22, 2022
THE SOUTH AFRICAN REPUBLIC. The province of KwaZulu-Natal was once again hit by a major storm. Heavy rains caused flooding and numerous landslides. Hundreds of people were evacuated. 
The Ethekwini urban district sustained the most damage. Infrastructure was damaged and houses were destroyed. 

FRANCE. Severe thunderstorms affected 21 departments of the country. The band of hail was about 300 km. Several people were injured. More than 340 houses and dozens of cars were damaged. Farm crops were significantly damaged.

May 23, 2022
The USA again, STATE TEXAS, One of the most powerful tornadoes struck the north. The storm raged near Morton, and near the town of Levelland. Wind gusts reached 120 kilometers per hour. 

CENTRAL JAVA, SEMARANG, sustained heavy rains and high waves breached the city's dam. The floodwater level exceeded 2 meters in some places. People had to evacuate by walking waist-deep in water.

The incessant rains caused the rivers in the northeast of the country to rise sharply. Large-scale floods inundated dozens of localities.
