Climate is changing and it’s our nowadays reality. We experience more temperature anomalies and last year was the hottest in 125,000 years. 2024 breaks the records of the previous year. The ocean is warming at an enormous speed. Climate disasters have increased all over the world.

What can each person do to improve the situation? I already paid my carbon emissions taxes but what else can I do to help other people and contribute to saving lives?

Ways to Resolve Climate Crisis. Presentation of Creative Society Organized With IAYSP Austria

The past week has shown how serious the problem of heavy rainfalls has become. Countries on different continents simultaneously suffered from abnormal floods.

➡️ Strong Storms in Europe
On May 2, several countries in Europe were hit by storms with thunderstorms and heavy rains.
In Germany, storms caused significant damage to some parts of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. After a strong thunderstorm, the Klingbach River overflowed, flooding several settlements.
The Netherlands also suffered from the storms that day. Strong thunderstorms with downpours passed over the province of Limburg. The cities of Venlo and Heerlen were particularly affected. 

➡️ Record Flooding in China
On May 4, heavy rains poured down on several cities in Guangdong province in southern China, including Zhongshan and Zhuhai. The province issued 58 flood warnings, five of which were red, indicating the most serious level of warning.

➡️ Catastrophic Floods in Kenya
Since March, rains have not stopped in Kenya, causing massive floods and landslides. Floods and landslides have claimed 228 lives, with 164 people missing. Unfortunately, there are no signs of the crisis easing, as meteorologists predict such weather will continue into May. 

➡️ Destructive Tornado in the USA
On the evening of May 6, another round of deadly severe weather hit the central part of the USA. The NWS issued over 300 life-threatening weather warnings: lightning, severe hail, and destructive wind gusts. Over 60 tornado warnings were also issued. One of them, the Tornado Emergency Alert, the most severe of all warnings, was issued for Osage County, Oklahoma.

➡️ Unprecedented Flooding in Brazil
The southernmost state of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, is experiencing a natural disaster. Anomalous rains and severe floods have already affected 401 out of 497 municipalities. The state government has declared a state of emergency. At least 95 people have fallen victim to the climate tragedy, and over 130 are still missing. The number of flood victims is approaching 1.5 million people, with more than 200,000 left homeless. 

❗ The extreme rise in temperatures and the evaporation of huge volumes of water lead to increased storm activity. As a result, there is an increase in the number of thunderstorms, precipitation, and strong winds. This poses a serious danger and leads to even greater destruction, losses, and loss of human lives.

Why don't Water Generators Serve People?

On January 15, 2022, the Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha'apai underwater volcano erupted in the kingdom of Tonga. A powerful shock wave was visible even from space. 
It was the most violent eruption in decades. The column of ash, steam and gas rose to a height of 39 kilometers. Two people died in the eruption, several dozens are still missing. The islands of Hunga-Tonga and Hunga-Ha'apai were nearly destroyed. Much of the country was left without communications and electricity. 
Ocean waves rushed across the Pacific Ocean to the shores of Japan, the United States, Mexico and South America. Towns in Peru were flooded and unfortunately, casualties have been reported. In New Zealand and Australia, residents have fled potentially dangerous places.

Volcano and earthquakes, abnormal heat and storms are recounted by eyewitnesses and breaking news reporters from around the world in this issue.

On January 14, 2022, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck the island of Java, Indonesia. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
On January 17, there were two earthquakes in the west of Afghanistan in Badghis province's Qadis region. Magnitude 5.3 and magnitude 4.9. Unfortunately, dozens of people were killed. Houses were reduced to rubble. Earth tremors were felt in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. 

On January 13, 2022, in Australia the highest temperature has been fixed for all history of meteorological observations - the temperature has risen to +50,7०С. 
On January 14, 2022, the absolute temperature record for the entire history of weather observations has been fixed in Uruguay - the temperature reached +44०С.
On the same day, in the city of Mar del Plata, Argentina, was recorded a record high temperature of +42,०С. The water level of the Paraná River, the second largest river in South America, dropped below the record high of 1945. A drought and outbreak of fires, which dragged on for nearly a month, led the government to declare a one-year state of emergency across the country.

On January 12, 2022, a powerful snow cyclone with winds up to 130 kilometers per hour hit Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands and Hokkaido, Japan. Unfortunately, people were killed and ground and air traffic was paralyzed.
On January 13, 2022, Atlantic cyclone Elsa hit Belarus. Injured people have been reported. Wind gusts reached 100 km/hour.
On January 15, wind with gusts over 100 km/hour was observed in Stavropol, Russian Federation, more than 35 thousand residents of the region were left without electricity. 
On January 16, 2022, a powerful winter storm Izzy brought low temperatures, high winds, snow and ice to the southeastern United States. In southwest Florida, the storm was accompanied by a series of devastating tornadoes. Unfortunately, casualties have been reported. The storm left hundreds of thousands of residents without electricity. 

On January 17, in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, a severe storm and heavy rains caused severe flooding. Residents were evacuated from dangerous areas.
On the night of January 18, heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Antananarivo, Madagascar. There were casualties.
On January 18 and 19, the province of Gaziantep, Turkey, was hit by snow and blizzards that were the highest on record in several decades.
Transportation was paralyzed and thousands of people were stranded on the roads. 

Experience shows that people are ill-prepared for climatic disasters, and the measures that are taken by the government are often insufficient. We: scientists, officials, ordinary people, need to unite all human potential and create the conditions for science to solve the problem of the climate crisis. Humanity still has a chance to pass the climate test with dignity and build a world in which everyone will be safe and truly happy.
