In March 2024, participants of the Creative Society Project attended the Disasters EXPO USA in Florida, Miami. This event showcased many different companies that are involved in disaster management. Bryon Hodges, President of WindTripper Corporation was also present at the Expo. WindTripper Corp. has developed a technology that allows buildings to maintain roofs during hurricanes and strong winds.

During the interview, Bryon Hodges shared his excitement about attending the event. He said that events like this provide a great opportunity to learn about the latest technologies from around the world. 

Mr. Hodges is convinced that a multidisciplinary approach is needed to solve a particular issue. He believes that it is through the unification of people that breakthrough ideas emerge and the most incredible solutions are found.

The issue of uniting scientists from all over the world is especially relevant now, as our planet is entering the 12,000-year cycle of climate catastrophes.

ℹ️ Earthquake M 5.6 in Turkey
On April 18, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Turkey. The epicenter was in the Sulusaray district of Tokat province, approximately 280 miles east of the capital, Ankara.
It was determined that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 5.99 kilometers. Tremors were felt in other provinces as well: Nevşehir, Sivas, Samsun, Erzurum, Çorum, and Amasya.

ℹ️ Powerful Storm in Vietnam
From April 19 to 20, powerful storms with thunder, hail, and heavy rains struck northern Vietnam. In the capital city, Hanoi, there were prolonged thunderstorms, and in some places, tornadoes and hail, causing significant damage to property.

ℹ️ Massive Flooding in China
Since Friday, April 19, Guangdong Province in China continues to suffer from heavy rains.
In Shaoguan County, by April 21, an astounding amount of rainfall—23 inches— had fallen, significantly exceeding the record of 16.4 inches set the previous year.

ℹ️ Earthquakes M 6.3 and M 6.0 on Taiwan Island
On April 23, in Hualien County on the east coast of Taiwan, two powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 6 and above occurred within just 6 minutes.
The first earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 was recorded at 2:26 am. The epicenter was off the coast of Hualien County in the Pacific Ocean, with a depth of 6.21 miles.

ℹ️ Sudden Flooding in Kenya
Kenya experienced a powerful sudden flood, affecting nearly half of the country's territory. At least 38 deaths have been reported, with around 103,500 people affected.

ℹ️ Sandstorm in Greece
On April 23, the sky above Athens and other Greek cities turned into an apocalyptic reddish-orange color.

ℹ️ Anomalous Flooding in Kazakhstan
Anomalous spring floods in Kazakhstan continue. A state of emergency has been declared in 10 out of 17 regions of the country.

Participants of the Creative Society project attended Disasters EXPO USA in Miami, Florida. They had an opportunity to speak with Alex Storr, Chairman of the Disaster Recovery Authority based in the Bahamas. As a part of the delegation from the Bahamas, he attended the EXPO to find new technologies that can help in disaster mitigation and recovery.

In this interview, Alex Storr shared how devastating Hurricane Dorian was, and noted that he and his colleagues are seeing signs of a so-called superstorm. He put a strong emphasis on the fact that no matter what awaits us, we must be prepared for it.

Alex Storr believes that we need to get the message of climate change across. In his opinion, we should be persistent and we should not lose our vigilance as our world will change in the coming years. He also emphasized the importance of bringing all people together to solve the climate problem. Every small action is important: sharing information, resources, experience, etc.

The number of natural disasters that have taken place in a short period of time gives an understanding that the climate crisis covers the entire planet. It exacerbates many of the existing problems of society. Radical changes in all spheres of life are inevitable in the near future for every person.

On July 3, 2021, a massive landslide descended in the city of Atami, Japan. Unfortunately, there are casualties, dozens of people were missing. Hundreds of houses were destroyed and cars were damaged. Some of the households were left without electricity.
The reason for the landslide is heavy rains that hit the region two days before the mudslide. It is also worth noting that the amount of precipitation has exceeded the average monthly norm for this time of year. After the cataclysm, tens of thousands of families were evacuated as security measures.

Abnormal heat covers new territories.
July 1, 2021, was the hottest day of the year in Greece: the air temperature exceeded + 43°C. On July 6, the hottest day in the last 107 years was recorded in Lapland, Finland. The temperature reached +33.6 °C.

An increase in temperatures contributes to the formation of hail. The higher the temperature, the larger the size of the hailstones. In addition, an abnormal amount of such precipitation is increasingly observed. Watch more about hail and other storms in Europe in the episode.

Floods take place synchronously all over the world and cover huge territories. The way of life of millions of people is changing dramatically. Catastrophic floods in China, Nepal, the United States, and Russia occurred in late June and early July of this year. Some of the strongest thunderstorms on Earth, which occur in the southern Great Plains of the United States, have become more intense and frequent. New research shows that this is due to climate change and this has happened before with a certain cyclicity during periods of global climate change.

Recently, there has been a change in the nature of the activity of volcanoes.
On March 19, 2021, after 800 years of inactivity, the eruption of the Fagradalsfjadl volcano started. On June 26, a satellite image showed an increase in volcanic activity at the place of eruption. Torvaldur Thordarson, a professor of volcanology at the University of Iceland, said that "The activity at the place of the eruption is much higher than before."

And in early July, on the other side of the planet, the highest level of sulfur dioxide emissions was recorded over the Taal volcano. On average, 22,628 tons per day is the maximum figure for the entire history of observations of it.
